Founders
The founders of Sails of Change, Yann Guichard, Dona Bertarelli, and her children, are inspired by their love of nature to strive for a balance between nature and people, which is possible through a sustainable and regenerative economy, and to work to protect and restore the wonders of nature for generations to come.
Dona Bertarelli spent her childhood on the water, up mountains and in forests. She is an ocean advocate, having supported the protection of 13.3 million km2 of ocean. In 2020, she was named the Special Adviser for the Blue Economy to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), serving until 2023. She is a Patron of Nature of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
After a childhood spent sailing, Yann Guichard became an Olympic sailor, before embarking on a successful career in multihull inshore and offshore racing. He is the co-founder and skipper of Spindrift, a professional sailing team, and a Patron of Nature of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
